I get asked about the shepperdess bucket. The Shepperdess bucket is used for orpahan lambs. It has two teets on it and it holds milk. The bucket its self is two buckets the outer bucket has a heater inside you fill with water. the inner bucket then holds the milk. the bucket has two teats with values that stop milk going back to bucket WHen the lamb drinks.

The process seems easy you get the lamb to suck the teat to get the milk. Sounds easy doesnt it! Its not it takes abaout two days of continuually taking lamb to teat to show the lamb how. You can feed several lambs at the same time. This saves having to bottle feed the lambs several times a day once they get the knack of it.

The idea is that the bucket will always have milk in it. This means like mum the lamb has milk whenever they want or need it.

The photo is our latest orphan who only started learning this am as you can see he making good progress. We will monitor him and make sure he knows how to get his milk but we are making good progress with him.
